My opinion

After the success of Halloween (2018) and being well received by fans the expectations for this final film where high even after the mix reviews that Halloween Kills (2021) received. But unfortunately, Halloween Ends hasn’t been able to fulfill those expectations leaving fans divided between the ones who enjoy it the film and the ones that didn’t. This has led to a debate in social media becoming one of the most commented and debatable horror film of the year.

The biggest issue lies in the fact that the film brings a new story and characters pushing aside the main ones. This creates a film that feels like a stand alone instead of the end of a trilogy like is supposed to. But a the same time that new direction is what makes the film feel fresh and different instead of the same basic slasher that we have seen way too many times. For people like me it was the right decision, for others it was a huge mistake.

Halloween Ends is also the final goodbye of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the character that brought her to fame and became one of the most iconic and recognizable final girl. While this is not the last Halloween film that we will ever see is the last one with her. The next time that Michael Myers returns to the big screen it will be without Strode. The film gives a clear ending to her character and a better closure that the one that Halloween: Resurrection (2002) gave her.

While I can do admit that this film could have been better I can’t lie and say that I didn’t enjoy it. From the beginning to the end I enjoyed this new addition to the franchise and goodbye letter to Jamie Lee Curtis. She may never read this but thank you Jamie Lee Curtis for everything that you have ever done for this franchise, thank you for giving us such a strong and iconic character. Your contribution to the horror genre will never be forgotten, you’re the scream queen.

If you haven’t already, go to theaters or stream on Peacock Tv this film. Give it the chance and don’t let others opinions discouraged you from watching a film that you might enjoy.
