Official plot
Zombieland meets Ocean’s Eleven
That phrase is the absolutely best way for me to describe this movie without giving much details. This 2 hours and 28 minutes long film directed by Zack Snyder makes a combination that I never saw coming: Zombies and a heist in Las Vegas.
After a military convoy crashes and accidentally sets free what we could say is a human experiment the zombie virus arrives to the sin city. They’re able to contain the virus and after quarantine the survivors are being taken out because the only solution to end this is trowing a nuclear bomb of what is left of Las Vegas. But before that happens a group of survivors will take the risk of getting inside and steal millions of the Olympus’ casino.
The film doesn’t give much background details of the characters and by the exception of two the members of the group, a pilot and the smart guy, doesn’t offer much value to the mission. This flaw takes away any chance of connecting with the characters, causing that their deaths doesn’t really matter.
My opinion
For me the movie is unnecessary long. If you’re going to make a film that long at least pay more attention to the plot details. It’s not the type of movie that I would rewatch, with just seeing it once was enough for me. In general it’s not a bad movie, it does has really good special effects and the action sequences are pretty good too. I could say that the movie is just for entreatment witch is not a bad thing to just do a movie to have a good time.
I give this movie a 6 out of 10. Worth watching? I say yes specially if you like zombie movies. It’s available on Netflix and movie theaters.
