If there’s a director that can be trusted in the horror genre is the Mexican Guillermo del Toro. His filmography features a wide variety of genres but his horror films are indeed his best work. Del Toro has the unique ability of giving beauty to the most grotesque and horrific monsters and stories. Visually he’s able to infuse both creating an exquisite cinematic experience.

Series synopsis

With that being said it shouldn’t come as a surprise that his latest work, a horror anthology series, has been praised by both the critics and the audience. Cabinet of Curiosities features eight horror stories, two of them being co-written by Del Toro (Lot 36, The Murmuring). The remaining six are based in horror short stories of authors like H.P. Lovecraft, Michael Shea, and Henry Kuttner. The first two episodes premiered on October 25, 2022 on Netflix. The remaining episodes were released on groups of two on October 26, 27, and 28.
