The 10th album of a band can be a big deal. This supernatural comedy horror film starts the band Foo Fighters as themselves being the first non-documentary film to feature the band. Directed by B. J. McDonnell the movie is based on a story by Dave Grohl.
Members of the rock band Foo Fighters move into a mansion to record their 10th album. Once in the house, singer Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the band members’ lives.
Official plot
The film was shot in secret but production was shutdown du to COVID19 almost at the end of filming. Production was retake adding three more weeks of filming du to health protocols. This makes the film one of the first ones to be completed during the pandemic. The film also features Jenna Ortega, Leslie Grossman, and Jeff Garlin. The soundtrack is produced by John Carpenter.
My opinion
Starting the film in Encino in 1993 we see someone being killed on the house that 20 years later will be used by the band to record their anticipated 10th album. By their manager’s idea they decide to use an old house in Encino as their studio. From the beginning is made clear that a supernatural presence in on the house.
Three weeks later the band has only being able to compose a song without and ending. Grohl’s requirements and attitude is making the band question his behavior. Soon they’ll discover the dark forces that are hiding on the property. Comedy, stupid situations, and a lot of blood is what can be expected of this film.
The only problem is how long it feels with a running time of one hour and forty-eight minutes the film almost feels like two hours. The plot never seen to get to the point until it can’t be extended anymore. Still, is a light comedy horror that can be enjoyable if this is your type of horror.
