Rating: 3 out of 5.

Moving into an apartment on the Upper East Side of the city can be the beginning of a new life. It also can be the beginning of the horror that’s coming for you. Being the director debut of Dasha Nekrasova this American horror triller will try to unfold the case of the sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Conspiracy theories lead the way on this story.

Two roommates’ lives are up-ended after finding out that their new Manhattan apartment harbours a dark secret.

official plot

The film had a worldwide premiere on the 71st Berlin International Film Festival on March 1, 2021. On May 2021 it was announced that the horror streaming service Shudder purchased the distribution rights. The streaming service premiered the film on March 3, 2022.

My opinion

This is not the type of film that is for everyone. Giving artistic horror vibes with disturbing situations that won’t make sense until the last five minutes of the film. The main characters Addie and Noelle are moving in to this beautiful apartment in Manhattan, but their relationship feels off from the beginning. Noelle is rude towards Addie most of the time without a reason and even talks about moving out just a day later after moving in. Of course, her behavior has a reason but you won’t find out until the end.

The film is not predictable by any means. But turns disturbing as the time passes making you ask yourself what are you watching. Emerging on the conspiracy theories of the Jeffrey Epstein’s case turns both roommates apart as they become obsessive on their own ways about the case. It wasn’t that enjoyable for me but for someone that likes this type of horror it’s a must watch.
