Rating: 1.5 out of 5.

A girls trip to the desert can end on alien invasion. Directed and written by Sam Walker this comedy horror starts Lucy Martin, Chelsea Edge, and Sophie Vavasseur.

What starts out as girls weekend away in the Mojave desert becomes a tale of horror, death and alien invasion.

Official plot

The film had an official premiere on the Beyond Fest on October 5, 2021. Shudder bought the distribution right and released it on March 10, 2022 on the streaming platform.

My opinion

Deidre, Charlotte, and Heather are about to start their girl trip on a house that belongs to Heather’s dad in the middle of no where. The purpose of the trip? Watching a meteor shower and doing a photoshoot for Deidre who is an influencer.

Everything looks normal as, as seen on the trailer, an baby alien has hit earth. For the next days the group of friends will debate what to do with him and how to return to town since their phones aren’t working.

After one hour and thirty minutes of film I was still expecting for the “comedy” on the plot. Not even once I found myself amused or I thought that a scene was funny. Instead, I found myself annoyed by the 3 girls that are the main characters of this film.

The key factor is the poor acting and the way that the characters where written. None of them is even relatable or nice. The only positive side is the body horror and special effects. Even the plot became predictable as it was happening.

I didn’t enjoy this film like I thought that I would. It was weird and nonsense, not the type of film that I would rewatch or recommend. Watching the trailer feels like watching the whole movie.
