Rating: 2 out of 5.

The adaptation of Stephanie Perkins’ horror novel is here. The book was adapted into a slasher film by Netflix, being released on October 6, 2021.

The game of secrets

Makani Young has moved from Hawaii to quiet, small-town Nebraska to live with her grandmother and finish high school, but as the countdown to graduation begins, her classmates are stalked by a killer intent on exposing their darkest secrets to the entire town, terrorizing victims while wearing a life-like mask of their own face. With a mysterious past of her own, Makani and her friends must discover the killer’s identity before they become victims themselves.

My Opinion

If you read the book you’re gonna spot the differences right away. From the start is clear that the film is going to change some aspects of the story. Without giving much characters names and deaths are changed.

The film fails on keeping the attention of the viewer. 1 hour and 30 minutes that feel way too long. Characters aren’t likable and ok killing scenes, nothing memorable. The book does a better job telling the story.

This film is a 2/5 or a 4.5/10. Boring and just another slasher horror movie.
