My Babysitter’s a Vampire deserved better

Hello Horror Freaks! Today I’m going to express myself about something about I’ve been holding on for years: Why My Babysitter’s a Vampire deserved better and a proper ending.

The first thing to point out is that before becoming a show My Babysitter’s a Vampire came out as a Canadian television comedy horror movie. Released originally on Teletoon, a Canadian television channel, on October 9th, 2010. Premiered a year later on Disney Channel on June 10, 2011.

The plot centers on Ethan Morgan and his best friend Benny, two high school freshman. Because Ethan’s parents doesn’t trust him taking care of his younger sister Jane they decide to hire a babysitter. The hire Erica, who is a student in the same school as Ethan and Benny, Whitechapel High School. She’s also a huge fan of Dusk, a parody of Twilight. The night she’s suppose to babysit Ethan and Jane she decides to skip her job and attend a party that her best friend Sarah’s ex-boyfriend Jesse is having. After fighting with Jesse Sarah ends at Ethan’s house and covers Erica saying that she’s sick. Sarah leaves the house to go and rescue Erica from the party because she knows the danger her friend is in. Jesse is a vampire and Sarah is a fledgling, a vampire that has not drunk human blood, and she doesn’t have plans on doing it. Ethan and Benny decide to follow Sarah leaving Jane with Benny’s grandmother, discovering her secret and wanting to help. On Jesse’s party is also Rory, a friend of Ethan and Benny. The trio is now trying to save their friends fighting against vampires in the process.

Having a good response from the audience My Babysitter’s a Vampire became a tv series premiered on Teletoon on March 14th, 2011 and Disney Channel on June 27, 2011. The series followed after the events of the movie showing the life of Ethan, Benny, Sarah, Erica, and Rory investigating more supernatural events on Whitechapel. Sadly the show ended after two seasons without a closure or proper ending. The final episode of the second season ends on a cliffhanger hiving zero details about what could have happen.

When I read about the show’s cancelation and the fact that they weren’t going to give it an ending I was so angry and sad. A great and original show, with a great cast and sense of humor doing a small parody of Twilight. In my personal opinion they didn’t had to do a whole new season to end the show, doing a movie would have been enough to at least give closure to what was happening at the moment. You can watch both the movie and series on Netflix if you want to remember a show from your childhood or jump on the train of fans that remained to this day.
